“Race tiny cars around a tiny track”

In the time before realistic racing videogames and arcade simulators the best way to experience the buzz of driving a fast car around a track was to get a Scalextric set. I have fond memories of creating elaborate plastic tracks in my bedroom then racing my pals for hours on end.

Slot Car Racer gives you the chance to recreate those halcyon days on your Windows Mobile device. The game sees you take control of a tiny slot car and pit your wits against the computer. The beauty of this one is that if you don't have to keep getting up to pick up your car when it spins off the track!

Controlling your car is very easy because you only need one button. This is set as the number 2 key but you can change it if you want. It's then a case of holding it down to accelerate and taking your finger off when you want to slow down around a corner. It takes a lot of practice to be able to complete a lap without flying off on a curve. This is where the game fails somewhat though. Because your oppponent's car rarely comes off the track and has built-in AI to make it speed up if you overtake it, it's virtually impossible to win a race, even on the easiest difficulty setting - something I found very frustrating indeed.

In its favour, there's a lot of customisation options within Slot Car Racer, including a choice of ten tracks, two game modes, and a whopping 60 levels of difficulty. There's even a track editor for you to design your own courses.The graphics are smart but get a little boring after a while, because the backgrounds rarely change.

It's a fast-paced game, but you'll need to practice for weeks before you can win a race!

Slot Car Racer, is a fast, neck-and-neck racing game. Keep you car in its slot while you race around the track as fast as you can, by applying just the right amount of acceleration !! Go too fast around the corners and you spin off the track. The key to speed is in the slide, you need to get your car to slide just enough for maximum speed, but not too much or it'll come out of its slot.

Cool collisions

Cars can slide around corners and knock each other off! Once you spin out of your slot and slide across the track you might just knock your opponent off the track too!

Dynamic AI

Your opponent will give you a real neck and neck race experience. If the computer is winning it will ease off and drive less aggressively, but if it is behind it will try extra hard to catch up. This means that that once you get the hang of it, the cars will race side by side all the way to the finish!

Two Game Modes

The game includes race mode, where you have to race against the computer in 60 levels of ever increasing difficulty (faster and faster), and free race mode, where you can build and race on your own tracks.

Varied Tracks

There are 10 tracks for the game mode which you can't change and 10 tracks for free race mode, which using the built in track editor you can change to create your own tracks.
